Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at Pediatrics + Scoliosis 6745 Academy Road Northeast suite a, Albuquerque, NM, USA TYPE Full-time | Monday - Friday (optional Saturdays) UPDATED September 3, 2026 Summary Balanced Physical Therapy + Wellness is seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). In this role, the COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, individualized, developmentally appropriate occupational therapy interventions to children with a variety of developmental, sensory, motor, and functional needs. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and families, is creative and adaptable, and is committed to helping each child build independence and confidence through meaningful, therapeutic activities. About the Role Responsibilities (Duties of this position are included but not limited to): Provide occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement individualized treatment plans designed to address each child's functional and developmental needs. Provide engaging, age-appropriate, and play-based therapeutic activities. Address areas such as: Fine motor and visual-motor skills Sensory processing and regulation Handwriting and school-related skills Activities of daily living and self-care Gross motor coordination and functional mobility Bilateral coordination and motor planning Feeding and other functional skills as directed by the supervising OT Monitor and document each child's progress and response to treatment. Communicate effectively with supervising therapists, caregivers, teachers, and other members of the child's care team. Provide caregiver education and home-program activities as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation. Participate in treatment planning, team meetings, and case discussions as appropriate. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and child-friendly treatment environment. Follow all clinic policies, professional standards, privacy requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain professional competence through continuing education and ongoing clinical development. Requirements Required Qualifications: Degree from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current COTA license for the state of New Mexico Current CPR/BLS certification, or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe Possess and enhances up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients; ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for patients Demonstrates a “servitude” attitude Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong time management skills as to manage daily case load Strong leadership qualities Basic computer skills Perform related duties as required About the Company Balanced Physical Therapy + Wellness is committed to providing an exceptional multidisciplinary patient care experience that promotes healing & recovery in a compassionate environment to meet the needs of each individual patient.
