We're looking to expand our team across the board.York Space Systems is looking for Electro-Optical (EO) Engineers with 0 - 4 years of experience.York EO Engineers work closely with our technology partners and internal subsystems for ensuring optical communications systems are actualized. The ideal candidate looks forward to being a focal point for successful cross-disciplinary integration of optical communication systems.As an EO Engineer at York, you will experience the full optical communications system life cycle from proposal to on-orbit commissioning, with a mixture of hands-on hardware activities and at the desk systems engineering work, directly contributing to making on-orbit laser links.This is a systems integrator role that is highly vendor facing, not a design role.ResponsibilitiesDrive the full systems engineering development lifecycle for optical communication systemsPerform trade studies on optical communication system capabilities to meet customer requirementsDevelop optical communications link budgetsDetermine optical communication specifications in accordance with spacecraft designs, customer requirements, optical analysis, and industry standardsSupport requirement decomposition and allocation regarding optical communication systemsDevelop and maintain standard systems engineering products in support of major engineering program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR, etc.)Oversee the delivery of optical communication systems from our suppliersSupport test execution and troubleshooting involving optical communication systems utilizing optical test equipmentDrive cross-vendor interoperability assessments and troubleshootingParticipate in vendor/customer calls as the technical POC for the organization for a program of recordSupport on-orbit optical communication system link testing and operations through the development of operational proceduresFulfill the role of optical physics SME within engineeringMay require some travel to support testing and launchMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fieldAbility to script using Python and work with version control systems (Git)Must be self-accountable, have high attention for detail, and look forward to collaboration in a fast-paced team environmentMust have, or a willingness to obtain, a DoD Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsExperience with the environments experienced by a spacecraft and their implications to precision optical systemsExperience in the design, development, and/or testing of optical communications systems or their componentsPrior experience with environmental test campaigns of electro-optical components or systems (such as vibration testing and thermal chamber testing)Background in electronicsActive DoD Security ClearanceBenefits In addition to compensation, York Space Systems is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance along with PTO and a 401K.
