Health and Safety Senior Engineer

Position OverviewInternational Motors is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Senior Engineer to lead and strengthen Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations at our Advanced Technology Center in Elmendorf, Texas, just south of San Antonio.This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity for an EHS professional who enjoys being on the floor, identifying risks, driving improvements, and partnering with employees and leadership to create a strong safety culture. You will play a key role in developing and implementing site-wide EHS programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, OSHA requirements, and International Motors' corporate EHS standards.If you're passionate about proactive risk management, continuous improvement, and building safer workplaces, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a technology-focused operation.ResponsibilitiesLead the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of site-wide EHS programs and initiatives.Conduct routine and specialized safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of facilities, equipment, processes, and work practices.Identify EHS hazards and develop practical mitigation strategies to reduce risk and improve workplace safety.Lead and/or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans, ensuring timely resolution and effective follow-through.Monitor compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS requirements, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills, emergency procedure updates, and coordination with site Emergency Response Teams.Develop and deliver EHS training, including new employee orientation, task-specific training, and recurring regulatory/compliance training.Maintain accurate EHS records, inspection documentation, training records, and corrective action tracking to ensure ongoing audit readiness.Track and report EHS performance metrics, including incidents, inspections, audits, corrective actions, and other key safety indicators.Partner with employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams to promote a strong safety-first culture and drive continuous improvement.Participate in safety committees, regulatory audits, and site EHS projects.Coordinate with and monitor deliverables from third-party EHS service providers to ensure quality and compliance.Support additional EHS initiatives and responsibilities as assigned.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree and at least 1 year of environmental health, fire safety or safety experienceORMaster's degree and no experienceORAt least 3 years of environmental health, fire safety or safety experienceAdditional RequirementsQualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)Desired SkillsBachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Strong hands-on experience in EHS, occupational safety, or health and safety engineering, preferably within a manufacturing, engineering, technology, or industrial environment.Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, hazard identification, and risk assessment methodologies.Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective EHS programs and corrective actions.Experience with emergency response planning, safety training, and regulatory compliance.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and develop practical solutions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels.Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with cross-functional teams and external EHS providers.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.Professional EHS certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, or equivalent are a plus.Benefits and CompensationThis position offers competitive market-based compensation, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing.
